You have a great idea that you want to pursue. You want to take the plunge and go full time with it. You truly believe in your idea and know it is a business you can thrive in. You quit your employment and go full steam into your new business venture. There is only one problem: your funding.
If you have barely enough money to get by, let alone start a business, how do you start? It is a fact that all businesses need money. You will need money to pay for permits and licenses. For equipment and office space. You will need money for supplies, employees, legal fees, contractors, freelancers, etc. There are many things you will need to spend on, how can you start when you don't have the money?
Here are some ways you can start a business with a very low budget.
The simplest thing you can do is to reduce your needs to fit the budget that you have. There are some expenses that you can not skip. Examples would be permits and licenses. However, for everything else determine what you can forgo for now. Instead of hiring employees or contractors you can start with doing it all yourself. Avoid having to pay other people if you can do it yourself. If you require an office to work on, start by utilizing your home. This is especially true if you will be the only employee to start with. If you are in need of equipment, you can instead buy used equipment.
Streamline your business to what you can provide initially. You do not have to go straight into a full operation business right away. If you are a restaurant, start with a simple and short menu. Lessen the number of seats. You want to reduce your scope, your target audience, and profit goals. Give your business a warm up period and gradually grow from there. Once you are capable to, add on to what you have, you will be able to grow organically.
If you do want to go all-out and full business mode at the start, then look for investors. If you can not fund the business on your own, look for investors to put in the money with you. There are many ways you can do this. From family and friends that can help lend you some money, to professionals you can partner up with. You can also apply for loans from banks and government grants.
